We spent some time on the Millenial generation, seeking to understand how it differs from previous generations and expectations, particularly around adulthood. The goal for this paper is for you to think about a specific, narrow issue drawn the issues this generation or Generation Z faces so that you can write a paper that uses one or more argumentative claims you’ve read about in the last few weeks.
After reading the various articles in “Millenials Entering Adulthood,” focus on an issue and/or argument(s) brought up in one or more of the articles, or an important issue that sprang up for you as a result of reading these articles (but must be closely tied to the topic at hand). Then, think about how this applies to your generation, Generation Z. Think of a specific issue that plagues Gen Z. If you are from a different generation, then focus on that generation. After all, you are the expert if you are part of that generation!
Prompt: Write an argumentative essay that employs one or more types of claims (Definitional, Causal, Resemblance, Evaluation, or Ethical) that makes an argument about one specific issue plaguing your generation. Depending on the issue you are going to argue, one claim may work better than another so you will need to decide which device works best in making your argument.
Minimum Requirements for paper to be reviewed for a grade:
4-5 full-page minimum of text, NOT counting the works cited page.
Double-spaced, MLA format, proper citations throughout.
Valid research that is relatively and CURRENT. Additionally, you should cite a minimum of 5 sources in your paper. You may use some from the textbook but also cite outside reliable sources from newspapers, articles, journals, books, reliable websites or an interview.
Your paper must strictly adhere to MLA standards when citing and formatting. You must incorporate source(s) by using quotations with proper parenthetical citations, paraphrasing of ideas (with citations), and a properly constructed cited page as the last page of your Word document file. (Please see the MLA section of our textbook to refresh your memory of research skills built in English 101A.)

Include well-developed paragraphs that contain a clear point, supporting information (Make sure to quote directly from the article in order to support your arguments), and explanations of these points—all of which help to support your stance.
In addition to being graded on the paper you turn in, you will also receive points for your contribution to others during the weeks of the paper writing process. You will have an opportunity to review another student’s paper and to help others in your previous group and discussion boards.
Use this assignment area to submit your own final paper submission the week the final paper is due. Notice that you will submit your paper using the Turnitin built-in feature to check for plagiarism. (Note my guidelines about original work in my syllabus.)
Your paper will be graded using the rubric below. I’ll make every effort to return all submissions within two weeks of the due date.
