This paper should take the form of a review of pages 3-228 (“Introduction” and chapter 1-7) of Emerson W. Baker, A Storm of Witchcraft: The Salem Trials and the American Experience.
Please let me know ASAP if you can not get access to this book and I will take pictures of the pages.
For this paper, do not consult or cite any reviews of the book. Engage with it directly. Some questions to guide your essay are as follows: How, specifically, does Baker challenge conventional thinking about the SWT? What specific points does he make that you find important and/or interesting? Identify and comment on the specific ways in which the book advances your understanding of the SWT. When reviewing a book, you need to write as if your reader has not read the book. In other words, you need to summarize key points Baker makes, and discuss why those points are significant. Also, you can’t just focus on points made in one chapter. To give your reader a sense of the different ways in which Baker helps us see aspects of the SWT in a new light, comment on points he makes in at least for separate chapters.
