This assignment has 3 questions. Please use Text Entry or upload a document with your answers. PLEASE SEPARATE YOUR ANSWER BY 1) —– 2) —– 3)—–
(1) On your own computer, open any word-processing document in your word processor. Point and click File and then on Properties. What metadata was included in the “Properties” section of the document?
(2) In Microsoft Word, open a new document and do the following:
Type the following phrases: This is secret text no one should see. This is text that is open to the public.
Turn on Track Changes by going to “Tools” on the menu bar and then clicking on “Track Changes.”
Now, using the delete key, delete the sentence “This is secret text no one should see.” Notice that to the right it now shows the text is deleted.
Point and click with your mouse on the down arrow next to “Final Showing Markup” in the “Tracking” item on the Review toolbar. Then click “Final.” Notice that you cannot see “This is secret text no one should see.” Assume for the purposes of this exercise that you sent this document to the opposing party in a case.
Now, assume that you are the opposing party in the case. Select the down arrow next to “Final” in the “Tracking” item on the Review toolbar and select “Original.” Notice that you can perfectly see “This is secret text no one should see.” Point and click with your mouse on the down arrow next to “Original” in the “Final Showing Markup” item on the Review toolbar and select “Original Showing Markup.” You can now see all of the changes in the document.
What confidentiality issues might arise with use of the Track Changes feature? Suggest some ways to avoid these problems. (Please write at least 4 sentences in your answer)
(3) Your firm represents a wife in a divorce case. She wants to know what issues are covered in a separation agreement, so she asks you for a sample of a separation agreement. You do not have a “blank” separation agreement, but your computer contains dozens of examples.
What ethical issues are raised by this scenario? (Please write at least 4 sentences in your answer)
