Reflect: Once you have completed your observations and analyses, write a reflection regarding your observations of technology use in the TIM videos and the classrooms you have observed in the past. From the TIM site:
The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) provides a framework for describing and targeting the use of technology to enhance learning. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments:active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and goal-directed. These characteristics are associated with five levels of technology integration: entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation. Together, the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments and five levels of technology integration create a matrix of 25 cells. All TIM descriptors apply equally well to online and face-to-face instruction, Developed by the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) in 2005, the TIM is now in its third edition (2019).
You will be observing two videos from each grade level (K-2, 3-5, 6-8).
Choose one video from each grade level from the Technology Integration Matrix Grade Level Index. This matrix provides an overview of each video and where it falls on the TIM. As you watch each video, answer the following questions with student learning in mind. How does the use of technology in this classroom compare to any classrooms or learning environments you have observed or taught in? Is there an ISTE student standard that aligns with the use of technology for learning in the video? If so, which one? Explain your answer.
Choose one video from each grade level from the collection of practice videos. These videos haven’t been tagged within the matrix yet. As you watch each video, answer the following questions with student learning in mind
In which learning environment does this lesson take place (active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, or goal-directed)? Explain your answer.
